The Public Service Commission authorized extensions on Aug. 6, 2025, permitting Baltimore Gas & Electric Company (BGE) and PHI utilities (Delmarva Power and Potomac Electric Power Company) to continue operating their existing commercial electric‑vehicle (EV) fleet programs through the earlier of June 30, 2026, or the launch and vendor selection for proposed Phase 2 programs.
Drew McAuliffe (staff) told commissioners BGE’s request would preserve continuity for programs approved in 2022 that were otherwise due to sunset on Sept. 14, 2025; staff said the extensions require no additional funding beyond amounts already approved in 2022 and recommended granting them. BGE and PHI utility representatives supported staff’s analysis.
Commissioners voted unanimously to grant the requested extensions for both BGE and the PHI utilities.
Staff advised the extensions avoid closing programs only to reopen similar offerings once Phase 2 is launched and a program implementation vendor is selected. The commission’s action preserves current program structures and funding while the utilities and the commission consider Phase 2 program design and procurement.
