Clerk Miller reported the county’s opioid settlement account held $88,091.24 at the time of the meeting and summarized prior receipts and expenditures (the county previously expended $114,560 and had received $202,651 overall). Central Idaho Counseling requested $10,000 to pay for initial assessments, group and individual sessions, and drug testing for people who lack other insurance—including several clients who recently lost Medicaid coverage, the agency representative said.
Crystal, representing Central Idaho Counseling, said the funds would be used directly for client care and that unspent service slots would roll forward to the next eligible client. Commissioners asked about quarterly reporting; Crystal confirmed the agency is prepared to provide required reports. Commissioners also discussed longer-term uses of settlement funds, including the potential to collaborate with other providers or consider leasing space for a sober-living or treatment center, but noted variability in annual settlement receipts raises fiscal limits on long-term commitments.
A motion to approve $10,000 to Central Idaho Counseling for this fiscal year was moved, seconded and approved by voice vote. Clerk Miller will process the agency invoice through claims.
