Hoboken Board Recognizes December Students of the Month, Highlights Student Leadership

The Hoboken Board of Education recognized students of the month from across the district during the January 2025 meeting, highlighting academic achievements, leadership and community service.
Hoboken High School’s December honoree, Tasha Fu, was presented by Principal Robin Picapietra. Picapietra said Fu is an 11th grader taking six AP courses with a GPA reported “well over 4.4,” serves as vice president of student government, participates in debate and chairs work on youth advisory projects including review work tied to a Youth Climate Action Fund evaluation committee that awarded a $50,000 Bloomberg grant. Fu told the board she is taking rigorous coursework this year and plans to continue extracurricular and civic activities into her senior year.
Other students recognized included Riley Claver (Brandt School second grade), Alessia Shami (Wallace Elementary, third grade), Gemma Roberts (Conners kindergarten) and Elliot Nazaro (Hoboken Middle School). Presenters noted a mix of academic performance, leadership in class and extracurricular interests; principals and teachers described each student’s classroom contributions and community spirit.
