McGurk Elected Board President; Angley Named Vice President at Hoboken Board Reorganization
Summary

Haley McGurk was nominated and elected board president during the Hoboken Board of Education reorganization session that opened the board’s January 2025 meeting. The nomination was made from the floor and seconded; McGurk accepted the nomination.
The board also elected Sharon Angley as vice president after a seconded nomination and acceptance. Officers were installed following the reading of the statutory Open Public Meetings Act notice (NJSA 10:4-6). Roll call votes were recorded for the officer elections and the reorganization portion of the meeting was adjourned before the regular agenda began.
Why it matters: The reorganization establishes who will lead the board through the 2025–26 school-year planning cycle and committee assignments. The board president will chair meetings and represent the board at official functions; the vice president will serve in the president’s absence.
What happened next: After the reorganization items were completed the board resumed as the Hoboken Board of Education and proceeded with student recognitions, committee reports and routine business.
