Dr. Coles of Southern Westchester BOCES briefed the board on the superintendent search. He said stakeholder surveys and in-person forums produced limited attendance (31 Spanish responses and 4 English responses to the survey; two small in-person forums had five and two attendees) and that the BOCES team is compiling feedback to finalize a candidate profile.
The search timeline presented calls for a public flyer and official posting on Nov. 7, a posting window through Dec. 29, and a candidate screening process in January that is expected to produce a narrowed pool for board interviews. BOCES recommended greater outreach and suggested keeping the stakeholder survey open longer to increase participation; the board requested additional promotion and a possible additional forum.
Board members asked that the candidate profile explicitly represent the district's nonpublic population (about 30,000 students who receive district services) and recommended stronger community outreach ahead of the posting deadline.
