Public Projects Committee approves multiple contracts, software renewals and drainage projects

The Tuscaloosa City Public Projects Committee approved several procurement and construction items during the meeting.
Item 1: The committee approved awarding a public-works contract to Civil Works for the Waterfall roadway drainage improvement project for $155,000. Staff said the project had been budgeted at $250,000 and that the bid from Civil Works was the lowest of four responsive bids.
Item 2: The committee approved a deductive change order totaling $50,000 with Taylor Electric for the University Boulevard East bridge lighting project. Staff said the work includes 27 pedestrian-style lights and roughly 1,200 feet of fiber conduit.
Item 3: The 2025 CMP lining project was awarded to Inliner Solutions for $329,510. Staff said lining will occur at three locations: a 42-inch CMP in Fredericksburg/Academy Drive, two 36-inch CMPs on Red Bud Lane in the Woodland Forest subdivision (south of Paul Brunt High School), and a 72-inch pipe in Bellevue Drive in the Scotland Park subdivision tied to prior drainage work.
Item 5: The committee approved a one-year professional services contract with Mimecast 365 Protect not to exceed $67,002.37 to replace the city’s existing email spam-filtering platform. Staff said the expense will be paid from the IT software maintenance budget.
Item 6: The committee approved a one-year renewal with Target Solutions Learning not to exceed $44,001.87 for tracking fire and EMS training hours; staff said the platform supports ISO reporting and allows assignment and tracking of training for fire and EMS personnel.
All motions were moved, seconded and approved by voice vote. The committee chair noted the next Public Projects Committee meeting would be Nov. 18.
