Kings County supervisors announce closed session on two lawsuits and two appointments

The Kings County Board of Supervisors on Nov. 5, 2025 announced it would hold a closed session to consider two existing lawsuits and two public-employee appointments.

County Counsel told the board, "The board has 4 items for consideration today. Conference with legal counsel, existing litigation, Quer versus County of Kings. Conference with legal counsel, existing litigation, Bade versus County of Kings. Public employee appointment employment, federal sheriff, and public employee appointment employment public works director." The board did not take public votes or make public decisions on those items during the recorded portion of the meeting.

At the start of the special session the Chair asked the clerk to call the roll. Supervisor Joe Nevs, Supervisor Richard Valle, Supervisor Doug Verboom, Supervisor Rusty Robinson and Supervisor Robert Thayer were all confirmed present. "All 5 members are present," the Chair said, and led the Pledge of Allegiance.

The Chair said unscheduled appearances were crossed out and that the board would "go to closed session as outlined by County Council." After County Counsel listed the four items, the Chair asked for public comment; hearing none, the Chair adjourned the meeting and announced the board would reconvene on Tuesday, Nov. 18, 2025.
