Kirkland family donates 4.5-acre parcel to expand Kirkland Ranch campus

The Pasco County School Board voted to accept a donated 4.5-acre parcel adjacent to the Kirkland Ranch campus, board members announced during the meeting.
Chris Williams, the district’s director of planning, explained that the Kirkland family sold roughly 100 acres in 2019 for the Kirkland Ranch campus and later allowed the legislature to appropriate the remainder for conservation. Williams said the family agreed to donate a 4.5-acre parcel at the corner of Curley Road and Kiefer Road, which the district will add to its existing campus.
Mr. Gadd and Cesar Rinaldi — who has overseen the Kirkland Ranch for many years — spoke about the estate’s history and the family’s longstanding support for education. Mr. Gadd told the board that the small parcel is valuable and that the donors required the land to be used for educational purposes. He also said that, although the parcel initially had no direct access, he worked with county officials to secure access from Kiefer Road.
Cesar Rinaldi said the Kirkland and Holloway families were ‘‘happy to give this gift to the school board’’ and expressed hope the gift will benefit future students. Board members thanked the family and those involved and posed for photographs after the presentation.
The board approved acceptance of the donation by motion (agenda item 16.3) and the motion carried by voice vote.
