Summary
The committee heard introductions from a new capital improvement project manager and from Pavilion Grill owners about catering and private‑event options. The committee’s RRMPs working group expects to publish a redline draft in December; repair and replacement items will be presented in January.
Sun City West staff introduced a new capital improvement project manager and heard a presentation from Pavilion Grill owners offering catering services to clubs, while the committee’s working group on Rules, Regulations and Member Policies (RRMPs) reported progress and a December target for a redline draft.
Why it matters: Capital projects, repair and replacement lists and vendor services can directly affect club operations, event planning and scheduled facility work. The RRMPs review could lead to policy updates that affect club permissions and use of rec center facilities.
Herschel Workman introduced himself as the new capital improvement project manager and summarized a career in civil engineering and municipal public works. Workman said he previously worked with the FAA and later as a public works director and described responsibilities that included water, wastewater, streets, parks and facilities.
Lindsay, co‑owner of Pavilion Grill, described the restaurant’s catering options for club events and rec‑center functions. "We offer catering services," Lindsay said, listing box lunches, grab‑and‑go orders, private dining and tailored menus for club meetings and holiday events. She urged clubs to reserve December dates early because holiday bookings are filling.
The RRMPs working group reported it has met with rec center staff and is concentrating on several specific policy areas; the group hopes to present a first redline draft at the committee’s December meeting. Committee members discussed giving clubs a month for review of the redline because of the holiday schedule.
Chair Nick Turner reported the governing board had approved the committee’s recommendation to host a USTA seniors tournament in late January/February 2027. Turner also said the capital improvement process will produce an R&R list in January that will include items affecting clubs.
Ending: The committee scheduled a Dec. 3 meeting to review the RRMP redline draft and asked staff to seek a governing board extension for formal RRMP consideration if needed.
