Mount Vernon City encouraged residents to review local election results on the Skagit County elections page and announced several community service notices, including holiday closures, a Veterans Day food drive and adjusted garbage pickup dates.
City staff reminded listeners that election results are available on the Skagit County website. The city said city offices and the Mount Vernon Library Commons will be closed Nov. 11 in observance of Veterans Day and that it is collecting nonperishable food items and household goods through Nov. 11 to support a Veterans Day food drive.
The city also said its offices and the library will be closed in November in observance of Thanksgiving. The announcement advised residents whose regular garbage collection falls on those closure dates that collection will instead occur on Wednesday, Nov. 26 or Monday, Dec. 1.
