The Interstate Irrigation District requested $98,500 from the Account 2 sponsor contingency to address unforeseen saturated ground and the need to reroute approximately 4,000 feet of pipeline alignment discovered during construction. Staff explained that the change resulted from field conditions that exceeded earlier site investigations and that the requested amount represents roughly a 2.2% increase to that project’s funding.
Select Water recommended approval and the committee voted to approve the contingency request. Staff will execute a contingency amendment and notify the contractor and sponsor, and will document the increase in the project file.
Why this matters: small contingency increases are common during construction when subsurface or adjacent land conditions differ from design investigations. The approved contingency allows the contractor to proceed with rework and avoids a longer delay in project completion.
Next steps: Water Development staff will process the contingency amendment and file the documentation; sponsors will proceed with the modified construction plan. The committee recorded the action as approved.
