Committee approves small AT&T easement in Lake Park to allow fiber relocation for DOT repaving

The committee recommended that Milwaukee County Parks be authorized to enter into an easement with AT&T to install, operate and maintain a fiber-optic cable on county land in Lake Park.
Robert Singlaub, contracts manager, described the need: the City of Milwaukee asked AT&T to relocate existing fiber because of a Wisconsin Department of Transportation repaving project, and the county-owned corridor along North Lincoln Memorial Drive between North Lake Road and North Lake Park Road is AT&T’s feasible alternate route. Parks recommended up to 0.011 acres (about 500 square feet) of easement at the current rate of $5 per lineal foot with an annual 3% increase for a 10‑year term, renewable for one additional 10‑year term with mutual agreement. Parks will require right-of-entry permits and fees for any work within park areas. The committee recorded a 7–0 recommendation for adoption.
The terms in the packet include a county termination right for noncompliance and provisions to require restoration of disturbed parkland after construction.
