Graham County detention center wins state innovation award; supervisors praise reentry work

"I just wanted to commend you for the... efforts that your General Commander Perez has made with the reentry program and actually giving people some life skills and some counseling rather than just saying ‘here’s your clothes,’" the supervisor said. The board's comments characterized the program as providing counseling and life‑skills training aimed at reducing returns to custody.
Sheriff Allred and supervisors also thanked detention staff and county employees who support detention operations. No formal action was required for the announcement; supervisors recorded gratitude and recognition in the meeting minutes.
