Board approves SBRC request of $948,607 to fund at-risk and dropout programs

The Burlington Community School District board voted Monday to submit an SBRC request for additional allowable growth totaling $948,607 to support the district’s dropout-prevention and at-risk programming for the next fiscal year.
Greg Reynolds and Corey Johnson described the request as funding roughly six at-risk teachers and interventionists, 10 student-success advocates and associates, two counselors, school resource officers, the IJAG program and summer school, plus supplies for dropout-prevention activities. Reynolds told the board the funding request would be in addition to regular program funding and that the district is required to contribute 25% of the local share.
“...For next year, it'd be $948,607 and this program typically for next year would fund roughly, 6 at risk teachers and interventionists, 10 student success advocates and associates, 2 counselors, funds our SROs, our IJAG program, our summer school program,” Reynolds said during the presentation.
After brief questions (the board confirmed IJAG would be in its second year), directors moved and approved the SBRC request by voice vote.
