The Colleyville City Council voted unanimously on Jan. 7 to approve Resolution R-25-5001, confirming the City Manager’s appointment of Cassandra "Cassie" Smith as the city’s Director of Finance.
Mayor Pro Tem Elder read the resolution following an executive-session discussion. Ben Graves, who led the council recruitment effort, said the city received nearly 50 applicants and interviewed four finalists before selecting Smith. Graves described Smith as a certified public accountant with municipal finance experience; she served about seven and a half years as assistant director of finance in Conroe and earlier worked in Harris County, and she has experience preparing comprehensive annual financial reports and budgets.
Smith introduced herself at the podium and said she was "excited about this opportunity" and ready to begin. During the council’s roll-call vote, members voted aye; the motion passed 7–0.
The resolution amends the Colleyville City Charter section cited in the motion to formalize the appointment; the council completed the action in open session after the executive session. No compensation or contract terms were discussed on the record during the Jan. 7 meeting.
