Staff recommended reducing the penalty from $780 to $280 so the executor could pay a reduced amount and understand future expectations. A motion to approve the reduced $280 penalty was made, seconded and passed by voice vote.
On the Public Safety Building procurement, staff opened seven sealed bids and reported base bids ranging from $630,000 to $798,000. The board moved to take the bids under advisement and authorized staff (the chair and designated reviewers) to work with CCMG and others to advance the procurement with the lowest responsive bidder; that motion also passed by voice vote.
The board also approved two separate motions allowing existing fences in the city right-of-way (437 Northeast and 443 North Independence) to remain under the conditions that property owners accept responsibility to replace or move fences at their own expense should the city need to remove them for a public project and that owners maintain vegetation near the right-of-way. A temporary use request to allow Connie Manifold to place tables in a small grassy alley on the 100 block of South Condie for a private birthday party was also approved.
