Buckholz described the unit’s purpose as rapidly following detectives’ work to serve warrants immediately when probable cause is established, instead of delays that allow suspects to remain at large.
Council asked about staffing, recruitment, and retention challenges and noted the operational impact of vacancies in policing; council members later discussed the need for pay parity and lateral recruitment incentives during the budget discussion. No new policy was adopted; the chief said the operation improved public safety and that the effort continues.
