At the July 10 meeting the city manager delivered a multi-item report on projects and near-term events.
Key project updates: FTA-funded bus shelter enhancement bids are due July 15; the RFP for a solar-powered e-bike charging station drew three proposals and is under evaluation; Sierra Vista Municipal Airport apron and taxiway rehabilitation work has two vendor bids and an award pending FAA approval; the shared-use path along State Route 92 is underway and expected to be completed in about six months; Lynn Roberts Park pathway repairs are complete; annual street maintenance is finished; the CDBG-funded Montebello fire hydrant improvement project is in progress and expected to finish next month; and the Garden Avenue streetscape should be completed in December.
The manager reported May sales tax for the year is down $43,555 (about -0.17%). He also announced the 8โ10-year-old Little League state tournament begins that night with 14 teams expected to play over the next week, which staff said should benefit local hotels and restaurants.
Council asked no substantive follow-up during the report and the item concluded with routine acknowledgment.
Why it matters: The project updates indicate work on transportation, parks and public infrastructure funded via Federal Transit Administration, CDBG and local budgets; several projects are near completion and one small revenue decrease was reported.
