County renews senior center food service contract; cost will be partially reimbursed

Madison County commissioners voted to renew the county’s contract with Georgia Food Service of Pinellas County to provide meals at the Madison County Senior Center. Staff said the renewed contract will push the county’s line item just over $100,000 for the year; the county will receive reimbursement through the Northeast Georgia Regional Commission which offsets much of the gross expense.
Staff reported positive feedback from center attendees and program staff; commissioners who visited the center noted strong participation (average daily attendance of about 65–70 people was mentioned). The motion to renew the contract was made by Commissioner Adams and seconded by Commissioner Chatham; the board approved the renewal by voice vote.
Staff will continue to submit reimbursement paperwork through the regional commission and to track attendance and program outcomes.
