The Idaho Falls City Council on Feb. 13 approved plans and specifications and awarded the Anderson Street waterline upgrade contract to HK Contractors Inc. for $1,604,007.
Public Works staff said the project will replace roughly 3,100 linear feet of cast‑iron waterline installed in the 1960s and will install approximately 1,150 linear feet of additional main. The work is being coordinated to occur in advance of a federally funded pavement rehabilitation project so the city can avoid multiple disruptions to the same roadway. Staff described a unique traffic alignment at the North Boulevard and Anderson Street intersection that will be corrected as part of the broader federal project.
Council discussed the need to schedule utility replacements to limit repeated construction impacts. The council moved to approve the award; the motion passed on recorded roll call.
