Council authorizes $1.45 million purchase from Blink Network for EV chargers at four I‑15 corridor sites

The Idaho Falls City Council voted Feb. 13 to accept Blink Network LLC’s proposal and to authorize purchase of EV charging equipment for four locations along the I‑15 corridor.
Idaho Falls Power staff said the program will install at each site four DC fast chargers and two Level‑2 chargers at Freeman Park, John’s Hole, Memorial Drive and the Idaho Falls Power Memorial parking lot. Customer service manager Richie and project consultant Reese Lolly told the council the city solicited multiple quotes and evaluated vendor proposals on technical approach, cost, vendor experience and project management; staff recommended Blink Network as the most cost‑effective solution that met technical requirements. The staff presentation recorded a purchase amount of $1,451,616.
Councilors asked about timetable and staff said they expect construction and initial installations to be complete by next fall. Staff also said the purchase is grant‑funded and within the utility’s budget for the project.
The council moved and approved the procurement; the motion passed by roll call. Staff will next finalize contract documents and schedule procurement and construction work with the vendor.
