Wappingers board adopts four goals for 2025–26 after wording amendment

The Wappingers Central School District Board of Education on July 1 adopted four board goals for the 2025–26 school year: attract and retain high-quality staff and encourage professional and leadership development; expand project-based learning and continue development of P-TECH and skilled trades programs; promote fiscal responsibility, maintain budgetary balance, and align district initiatives with student, staff and community needs; and maximize attendance to support student success.
The board's goals subcommittee presented the goals and trustees discussed how and when the board will review progress. Trustee William asked that the board more formally evaluate whether prior goals were met; trustees said goal review occurs in board materials and periodic presentations (for example, an attendance presentation was noted). A wording amendment to the third goal, proposed by board member Peggy Kellen to make parallel phrasing, was moved, seconded and accepted unanimously; the board then approved the goals as amended.
