Cole County commissioners discussed the county's emergency-services memorandum of understanding with the city during unfinished business on June 17, directing staff to prepare a comparison of the 1989 MOU and recent billing and service practices and to engage the city for negotiations.
A commissioner said he had "reached out to the city administrator" and that the county would "reaffirm our commitment to honoring the current MOU, until directed otherwise," while also noting the city was evaluating next steps. Commissioners said they want the county to prepare an "MOU schedule" showing what the 1989 MOU requires, how recent practice differs and proposals for aligning the parties.
Commissioners agreed to try to produce an internal review during the week and to put the item on the next meeting agenda. One commissioner suggested conducting closed-session contract negotiations; later in the meeting the commission moved to go into closed session pursuant to Missouri Revised Statutes 610.021 subsections 18 (communications with auditor) and 13 (personnel), and roll call recorded three yes votes.
No final change to the MOU was approved at the meeting; commissioners instructed staff to prepare documentation of current billing and services and to reach out to the city administrator to pursue resolution.
