District Outlines Preliminary Title Grant Allocations; Some FY26 Amounts Still Pending

Director Tuckrell presented an overview of the district27s federal Title grants for FY26, explaining that the district has received preliminary allocations for Title I (preliminary allocation about $975,000, roughly $120,000 below last year) and Title IV but has not yet received Title II or Title III allocations from the federal Department of Education. Tuckrell said the state requires the application by June 30 and that districts must plan as if allocations will arrive and then amend the application in the fall when exact numbers are provided.
Tuckrell summarized intended uses by Title category: Title I largely supports staffing, supplemental academic interventions, instructional coaching and family engagement; Title II supports professional development and retention; Title III supports multilingual and immigrant-student services and funds cultural-liaison positions; Title IV supports well-rounded learning, technology and safe-and-healthy activities. The presenter noted the district27s nonpublic schools (Immaculate Conception and Little Voyagers) may participate in federal Title services and the district coordinates allowable services with them.
Board members asked about nonpublic-school participation, carryover rules (Title I carryover limit 15%; Titles II–IV less limited but subject to spending deadlines), contingency plans if federal funding is reduced (general fund would absorb shortfalls) and how much of the outstanding allocations represent staff positions. Tuckrell and Superintendent Stenbeck said they would provide a more detailed calculation in a Friday report to show payroll exposure if allocations do not arrive.
Tuckrell said Title 3A (immigrant-student funding) is not guaranteed and is distributed by state calculations; staff highlighted family classes and parent education programs supported by Title funding. The board was asked to return on June 24 for approval of preliminary Title grant funding and plans.
