Building Inspection Commission meets in closed session on potential litigation over extension requests, returns and votes not to disclose

The Building Inspection Commission voted to convene a closed session on Feb. 19, 2025, to confer with legal counsel about "significant exposure to litigation" arising from written communications by property owners requesting extensions under San Francisco Administrative Code Section 41.23.
Commissioner Newman moved to convene the closed session; Vice President Shattuck seconded. The chair called a roll-call vote; Vice President Shattuck, Commissioner Chavez, Commissioner Newman and Commissioner Williams each voted "yes," and the chair declared the motion carried. The meeting entered closed session at about 10:47 a.m.
After the closed session the commission reconvened in open session at 12:11 p.m. and took a roll-call vote on disclosure. Commissioner Newman moved and Vice President Shattuck seconded a motion "to reconvene and not disclose." The motion carried unanimously on roll call.
The commission then approved the minutes of the Jan. 15, 2025 regular meeting (motion by Commissioner Shattuck, second by Commissioner Williams; roll call: all in favor) and adjourned at 12:13 p.m.
