Juan (staff) explained the commission’s decision and order had not yet been filed, but that the department recognizes the application date as June 18, 2024 — the date the applicant submitted the paperwork. “Although the commission didn't take action to approve the certification of the applicant's native Hawaiian blood quantum until December, the application date is effective as of 06/18/2024,” Juan said.
The family said the clarification resolved their confusion.
