Board clarifies local authority on graduation credits; IKF policy approved

Director of Teaching and Learning Dr. Wendy Miller Tomlinson told trustees the policy had been posted for public comment, no substantive objections were received and secretary Wofford suggested a streamlined purpose statement. The changes do not alter the number of credits required to graduate this year; they clarify how the board will exercise state-authorized discretion concerning elective credits.
Member Frank moved adoption on second reading; Vice President Nolan seconded. The roll-call vote was 5-0 in favor.
Ending: The board adopted IKF and asked staff to add a statutory citation to the purpose statement; district officials said the change preserves instructional time and aligns with state requirements.
