"I would like to suggest that we are included somehow for that building in terms of what the plans are and the monies that might be needed," a committee member said, citing prior work on interior mechanical and display considerations.
Separately, members discussed a mural restoration and expansion proposal from artist Lois Sprague. The proposal would clean and repaint an existing mural and potentially install a new mural on three library-facing walls; the artist cited a total project cost in the neighborhood of $25,000. Members discussed a collaborative fundraising approach tied to the community’s a250/c150 celebration and requested staff outreach to potential partners.
What’s next: Committee will ask staff to involve the preservation committee in depot building planning and follow up with Lois Sprague and local partners to explore fundraising and a phased restoration that could proceed next summer.
