Gene Washoe, Greenwood’s fire chief, asked the board to adopt a fire department procedures manual developed with Lexipol, a national public-safety policy and procedure provider. Washoe said the manual — more than 600 pages in total — codifies operational procedures for structure fires, EMS calls and related emergency responses.
The board discussed how Lexipol provides frequent updates to reflect best practices and changes in Indiana law. The chair offered an amendment to approve adoption "as amended" to allow Lexipol to send routine updates to the department without requiring the department to return to the board each time. Chief Washoe said the department would review proposed changes internally and would bring any internal policy changes to the board before distributing them to membership.
The board approved Resolution 25-08 with the amendment permitting Lexipol updates and then approved Resolution 25-09 adopting the department’s house policy. The motions were approved by voice vote.
