Lamar Elliott, on behalf of the family, gave a multi‑minute personal history of his mother’s advocacy for recreational facilities and neighborhood organization dating to the 1960s and 1970s. Councilmembers who spoke in support cited her longtime public service and the Parks, Recreation and Tourism Department’s recommendation.
The resolution was adopted by a recorded 9‑0 vote. Parks staff will coordinate signage, record updates and a dedication event.
