Assistant Chief Nathan Gorham said the change formalizes an existing operational practice and aligns the county agreement with CAL FIRE policy. Staff noted that without the amendment CAL FIRE units who are closer to some incidents could be restricted from responding automatically, potentially lengthening response times. The amendment was presented as an administrative alignment to memorialize long‑standing interagency operational practice and to avoid any disruptions in response planning or dispatch.
