Summary
Tuolumne County Transportation Council announced public visioning events for the Gold Rush Path, a multi‑phase trail stretching from the Chicken Ranch Casino through Sonora to Columbia, including virtual‑reality flyovers and community workshops on Nov. 13–15.
Andy Carter, representing the Tuolumne County Transportation Council & Transit Agency, briefed the board during oral communications on Nov. 4 about the Gold Rush Path project, a multi‑phase regional trail planned to run from Chicken Ranch Casino, through Sonora and up to Columbia State Historic Park.
Carter said the project is currently in the planning stages and that the agency will host three public visioning events on Nov. 13–15: workshops at the Armory (Nov. 13 evening) with virtual‑reality flyovers, a storytelling event at the Opera Hall (Nov. 14 evening), and a public finale at Columbia State Historic Park (Nov. 15 morning). The events will solicit public feedback and include neighborhood‑focused and larger events; Carter encouraged residents to visit goldrushpath.com for schedules and outreach materials.
The project manager said organizers will use social media, post offices and printed materials for outreach and will post event schedules online. Carter framed the path as a community backbone intended to provide healthy transportation options and recreational opportunities as the county develops additional connected trails.
