Landmarks Commission highlights Nov. 8 springs cleanup, seeks volunteers and committee participation

A representative on the Springs report told the commission the fall springs cleanup is scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 8, with volunteers meeting at City Hall about 8:30 a.m. The speaker said volunteers are already signed up, and noted Hobo Spring’s drain is plugged and will need clearing before winter.

Commissioners discussed whether the Springs Committee has been meeting and whether the landmarks commission should confirm or nominate a representative to the Springs Committee. Staff noted prior outreach to Waukesha North and other local schools for volunteer days and suggested reaching out again for spring cleanup support.

Commissioners and staff encouraged participation but emphasized no obligation; the event is presented as a community volunteer opportunity. Staff and commissioners agreed to place a Springs Committee membership item on the next meeting agenda.
