Landmarks ordinance update goes to Common Council for discussion on Nov. 18, vote likely in December

Charlie, the commission’s staff member, told the Landmarks Commission that the Plan Commission reviewed the proposed Landmarks Commission ordinance update at its October meeting and recommended it for the Common Council. Charlie said the proposal will be on the council agenda for discussion on Nov. 18 and that a vote is likely at the council’s first December meeting. Staff offered to circulate the final approved text once it is available and invited commissioners to submit suggested changes by email ahead of the council discussion.

Charlie clarified that the Plan Commission recommendation does not eliminate the council’s discussion: the Nov. 18 agenda will include time to review the ordinance and the council will conduct the formal readings as required by city procedures. Commissioners asked to receive the final version from staff so they can provide input before the council vote.
