The commission took up a proposal to update county land-use maps to support an ordinance rewrite. Land-use director Jen briefed commissioners on a possible contract with Apex (an engineering/GIS firm) to complete the map update sooner than later, and commissioners asked whether county GIS staff or other engineering firms might perform the work.
Commissioners and staff discussed budget timing, a likely cost (roughly in the low thousands), and the possibility of reallocating money within this fiscal year to begin updating GIS data now rather than waiting for next year's budget. No motion to contract was made; commissioners asked Jen and county staff (including Tom) to meet, compare quotes and bring a recommendation back at the next meeting.
