Harney County renames Fund 231 to Veil Capital Improvement Fund to consolidate jail improvement funds

Harney County Court approved Resolution 2025-24 on Nov. 5 to rename fund number 231 from the previously titled courthouse-annex grant to the Veil Capital Improvement Fund and to consolidate anticipated Oregon Department of Justice (OJD) grant funds, the jail reserve and certain 9-1-1 funds for jail improvements.
County staff explained the action is an administrative step to place OJD grant funds and other related reserves into a single fund so the county can appropriate and expend the monies for jail improvements this fiscal year; a supplemental budget will follow to move and appropriate the funds. The resolution text provided in the packet describes the change and notes the intergovernmental agreement with OJD reauthorizing use for jail improvements.
Commissioners moved, seconded and voted to approve Resolution 2025-24 by voice vote.
