Neighbors say they will oppose proposed 50–60 unit townhouse project at Fifth Street East and Napa Road

During public comment Jesse Ortiz said he represented "over a 100 neighbors" who will be adversely affected by a proposed 50–60-unit townhouse project at Fifth Street East and Napa Road by City Ventures. Ortiz asked the city council and planning commission to be "transparent and forthcoming in a timely manner regarding any and all motions or actions in connection with the annexing, rezoning, and the future development of the said property site." Ortiz said neighborhood residents are "vigilant and concerned by the scale, the size and scope of the proposed project" and said he would raise the issue again at the planning commission meeting.

The comment was filed during general public comment; no application or hearing was before the council tonight and the council did not take action on the project. The speaker indicated residents intend to participate in upcoming planning-commission proceedings.
