Committee members said they want the planned gym naming to be more than a nameplate and urged staff to provide options and cost estimates so a dedication can take place by the first home basketball game. Dr. Avery said the board would "do what we gotta do to make it right" and asked staff to pursue a grander ceremony timed with the season opener.
Facilities staff said they will prepare proposals and estimates and circulate options to members of the school building committee in advance of that group's next meeting. Staff noted construction timing and available funds from the school construction program are still being clarified; if immediate funding is limited, members discussed staging the dedication (a visible element for the first game with a fuller unveiling later in the season).
The committee asked staff to coordinate with athletics and school leaders to give ample notice to the community and suggested holding the formal unveiling at a high-attendance event such as a home opener, homecoming or senior night.
