Samaritan Village residents urge four‑way stop at Fox Road and Euclid

HUGHSON, Calif. — Residents of Samaritan Village urged the Hughson City Council on Aug. 11 to install a four‑way stop at the intersection of Fox Road and Euclid, citing poor sightlines, parked cars and a recent crash.

Donna Nagel, who said she lives at Samaritan Village and has lived there about four years, told the council cars often travel fast through the intersection and that parked vehicles and a church building make it hard for drivers to see oncoming traffic. “It would be so helpful to all of us if we can have a four‑way stop,” Nagel said.

Tom Broderick, also a Samaritan Village resident, described a collision on Dec. 27, 2024, at the same intersection that totaled his car; he said both drivers walked away but that the other vehicle appeared to be traveling quickly. Broderick asked the council to consider traffic controls at the location.

A council member said the intersection had been discussed previously and that the item could be placed on a future agenda for further consideration. No formal action was taken during the meeting; council directed that the matter could be added to a future agenda for staff study and potential recommendation.

The request came during the public‑comment period. Residents seeking traffic changes typically prompt a staff review of collision history, sightlines and traffic counts; any recommendation to install a four‑way stop would be brought back to council with staff analysis if the council places the item on a future agenda.
