The Ellensburg City Council confirmed several advisory commission appointments at its July 7 meeting.
Planning Commission: Stacy Henderson, planning manager, introduced Joe Sheeran, who has prior service on the Environmental Commission and Parks & Recreation Commission and experience in environmental studies and public service. After a motion, second and voice vote, council appointed Sheeran to the Planning Commission.
Landmarks & Design Commission: Staff recommended reappointments for Fred Redmond (former chair) and Marty Blackson (former vice chair) and a new appointment, Scott Carlson, a local property owner with construction and historic‑property experience. The council voted to reappoint Redmond and Blackson and to appoint Carlson to the Landmarks & Design Commission.
Why it matters: Appointments to advisory commissions fill volunteer roles that advise staff and council on land use, historic preservation, parks and design issues; the individuals’ experience was summarized on the record during the meeting.
