Coaches and administrators recognized senior running back Rayshawn and several linemen at the meeting for individual and team accomplishments during the fall football season. Coach Hunter read statistical highlights for Rayshawn, including that he entered his senior year with 2,795 rushing yards, added 2,172 yards and 29 touchdowns this season, and finished the career total at 4,967 rushing yards — 33 yards short of 5,000.
Coach Jacob Hunter and others praised the linemen for discipline and consistency, noting few penalties for holding or offsides. Coach Hunter also told the board that Rayshawn played much of the season with a torn meniscus and is scheduled for surgery in about two weeks; the coaches highlighted the player's toughness and team leadership, including tending to teammates during games.
The board presented certificates and a commemorative football to Rayshawn and recognized the supporting players and coaches. The recognition was framed as a celebration of a season that included the district’s first back-to-back first-round playoff wins in 25 years and the program’s fifth consecutive playoff appearance.
