At the Feb. 13 meeting the Royal Oak Schools Board of Education approved the regular personnel changes submitted by district staff. The personnel report included 10 recommendations for hire: seven paraprofessionals, two speech‑language pathologists and one school social worker (the social worker will serve as a long‑term substitute for a parental leave through the remainder of the school year). The report also listed two separations: one evening adult‑education teacher resignation and one preschool position eliminated as part of early‑childhood program adjustments.
Personnel director Mister Wilinski noted ongoing district need for paraprofessionals and that vacancies reflect changing student needs and individualized education program decisions. Trustees approved the personnel recommendations by voice vote after a motion from Trustee Alexander, seconded by Trustee Anderson.
Superintendent Fitzpatrick and trustees encouraged community members interested in paraprofessional roles to apply; the district is preparing a public service announcement and outreach about positions that support high‑need students.
