First National Bank offers $100,000 scoreboard sponsorship for GHS baseball; board briefed

District staff presented a proposed 10-year sponsorship agreement in which First National Bank of Central Texas would pay $100,000 for exclusive signage on the back of the high-school baseball scoreboard. The district said the bank would pay the money upfront once the signage is completed and lit, and the district would include wording identifying "Ryan Powell Memorial Ballpark" and "Danny Lorwald Field."
The district described the signage as equivalent to prime advertising real estate similar to previous press-box signage. Staff said the bank will have a first option to renew at the end of the 10-year term. No formal board vote on the sponsorship was recorded during the meeting; trustees received the proposal as an informational item and discussed intended uses for funds such as adding a third batting-cage lane, lights under the cages and future improvements to backstop, dugouts and walls.
Board members and staff noted the district requested the bank finalize the agreement before year-end for the bank’s tax reporting; staff said the immediate project priorities would likely use most or all of the $100,000 fundraising amount.
