Lincoln County honors retiring tax commissioner and bids county attorney farewell

The commissioners and attendees applauded as McGathey accepted the recognition and thanked colleagues and residents. "Lincoln County will always be in my heart," McGathey said, addressing the board and guests.
Outgoing County Attorney Benjamin Jackson also spoke, summarizing his 12 years in the office and praising county staff and elected officials for their professionalism. Jackson described three core county responsibilities—water, sewage and roads—and said he was proud of the county employees he had worked with.
Both presentations were ceremonial. The board did not take formal policy action as part of the recognitions. The county noted personnel transitions and that Gerald Bracey was expected to assume the county attorney role on Jan. 1, 2025.
