San Marcos council goes into executive session on economic-development projects; lease renewal at 201 South LBJ Drive left without motion

The San Marcos City Council voted unanimously to enter executive session to deliberate potential economic-development incentives and to consult with legal counsel on a lease matter.

On the record the council announced it would convene an executive session under Texas Government Code §551.087 (economic development) to deliberate possible incentives for Project Shirley Temple, Project Primrose and the River Bridge Public Improvement District, and under §§551.071 and 551.072 to consult with the city attorney and deliberate regarding the lease of real property at 201 South LBJ Drive. Ms. Rodriguez moved to go into executive session; Mr. Scott seconded the motion. The chair announced the council voted 7 to 0 to enter executive session, and the session began at 8:42 p.m.

The council reconvened in open session at 9:09 p.m. Staff reported the lease for 201 South LBJ Drive had been discussed and that the tenant had requested to renew the lease. When asked whether there was a motion to renew, staff explained that if the council takes no motion to renew, the lease will expire automatically at the end of the term in January.
