Franklin County Commission approves road namings, multiple vehicle purchases, service agreements and juror transport

The Franklin County Commission approved a bundle of commission orders at a regularly scheduled meeting, including road namings, vehicle purchases and leases for the sheriff’s office, a service agreement and juror-transport reservations for an upcoming trial before Judge Hellman.

The actions were taken by voice vote with no substantive public comment. The commission approved Commission Order 2025-309 to name Road Of Twin Lakes and Commission Order 2025-310 to name Compton Acre Lane. Both orders were approved following brief motions and voice votes.

The commission approved a service agreement with Elliott Data Systems for the sheriff’s office to maintain a badge-pass printer and a commercial limitation module (Commission Order 2025-311). It approved purchase orders for law-enforcement vehicles from Don Brown Chevrolet: three Chevrolet Tahoes under Commission Order 2025-312 and an additional Tahoe under Commission Order 2025-314. The commission also approved Commission Order 2025-315 to purchase a 2026 Chevrolet Traverse, noting the item was funded by an HDTA grant as recorded in the meeting.

Commission Order 2025-313 authorized execution of four closed lease agreements with Enterprise Fleet Management for sheriff’s vehicles. Staff confirmed the leases are closed with an option to exercise at the end of the term; the meeting record shows $404,100 would be due at lease termination. The commission approved the lease agreements by voice vote.

The commission approved Commission Order 2025-316 for the purchase of a Bearcat armored vehicle from Linco for the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office; the record notes the sheriff’s office had been saving funds for the purchase. It also approved Commission Order 2025-317, a service agreement with ERAD Group at an annual cost cited in the record as $49.50.

For court operations, the commission approved Commission Order 2025-318, authorizing reservation agreements with MidAmerican coaches for juror transportation to and from Springfield for the upcoming trial, described in the meeting as one trip out and one trip back for jurors assigned to Judge Hellman’s trial.

The commission approved Commission Order 2025-319, the consent agenda, which included abstract fees from the recorder of deeds, county collector charges for September and an auctioneer license issued to Bridal Auctioneer Licensing Auctioneering Services LLC.

“Big day for the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office here today,” the Presiding Commissioner said after several sheriff’s office items were approved. The meeting closed after brief elected-official reports and employee service recognitions for Danielle Schulte (five years, clerk’s office) and Deputy Danielle Vimmer (10 years, sheriff’s office). A motion to adjourn carried on a voice vote.
