Riverside Local board approves $20,000 prom venue and up to $88,000 for Riverview furniture

The board authorized a $20,000 purchase order to the American and Croatian Lodge to secure the venue for the district prom. The motion was seconded and carried unanimously.
Separately, the board approved a purchase order with Martin Public Seating not to exceed $88,000 for office and classroom furniture for the Riverview addition. Administrative staff explained that the initial furniture quote for the classrooms did not include some items now required (bookcases, wobble stools, carpets, certain chair types). Staff said preschool furniture currently in use at Mel Ridge will be moved to Riverview over the summer, reducing the amount of new preschool furniture needed; the order is intended to secure adult office pieces and other items that are not available in the district inventory.
Staff noted concerns about pricing and vendor quotes and said they are meeting with the vendor later in the week to finalize details; the vendor's price list is scheduled to increase Saturday, an affordability concern staff cited as a reason to place the order now for some adult pieces. The board approved the Martin Public Seating purchase order unanimously.
The meeting closed after announcing upcoming committee meetings and confirming the next regular board meeting.
