Metro Council office announces two hires, seeks attorney to fill legal vacancy

Rachel Jones has started as the Metro Council office’s finance administrator and Anna Butler will join later this month as an administrative assistant, Director Darby told the Metro Council Executive Committee.

"Rachel Jones is our new finance administrator," Darby said, adding Jones has prior Metro finance experience and earlier served as a budget analyst for the council office. Darby said Anna Butler, a Nashville native with paralegal experience and a degree in literary journalism from the University of Tennessee–Knoxville, will begin on the 21st of the month and take the cubicle previously occupied by Melanie.

Staff also said the office will recruit an attorney to replace Hannah Siteland. "We will be looking for an attorney to step in and fill that office," Margaret said, noting a posting likely before the end of the month and a hoped-for hire in August.

The director encouraged members to stop by and welcome the new staff and noted office arrangements: Jones will be seated next to Maria Calder and Butler will occupy a central west-side cubicle. The announcements were part of broader executive-committee updates that also addressed resources, communications, and procedure changes.

The office did not provide candidate names or a hiring timeline beyond the target month. Details such as salary or hiring committee membership were not specified in the meeting.
