Council approves routine minutes and consent items, then holds two executive sessions on Woman Creek deed and personnel

The Westminster City Council took routine procedural votes early in the Jan. 13 meeting and then entered two executive sessions after the public meeting.
Councilor Dave DeMott moved to excuse Councilor Hott and Mayor Pro Tem Nirmala until arrival and to allow Councilor Carmelia to participate remotely; the motion passed by voice vote. DeMott then moved to approve the minutes from the Dec. 16, 2024 meeting, and the motion carried. Later the council approved items on the consent agenda by roll call; the city announced the motion passed on a 6‑0 vote.
After the public meeting, the city attorney read the legal basis and proposed two executive sessions: (1) consultation with the city attorney on legal issues involving the deed for the Woman Creek parcel, citing Westminster Municipal Code sections and Colorado Revised Statute 24‑6‑402(4)(b); and (2) a personnel matter, quarterly check‑ins for the city manager, presiding judge and city attorney, citing Westminster Municipal Code and C.R.S. 24‑6‑402(4)(f). Each councilor stated their name and their willingness to proceed into executive session; the meeting adjourned into executive session at 7:28 p.m.
