Board renews lease with NACOG Head Start for former elementary facility

The Blue Ridge Unified School District board voted to renew the lease with the Northern Arizona Council of Governments (NACOG) Head Start program to occupy the district’s old elementary school multipurpose space, Dr. Wright said.
"They've been an outstanding tenant" who "have probably invested a hundred and 50,000 into the facility or more," Dr. Wright said, describing Head Start as a federally funded program that provides classroom preparation for many children each year.
Board members had no substantive objections and approved the renewal under existing terms. The district said Head Start provides its own food service and that the program has cooperated with district drills and events. The motion to approve the lease renewal passed unanimously.
No specific lease dates or dollar amounts were provided at the meeting; the superintendent asked the board to renew the arrangement "under the existing terms." The board did not change lease conditions during the discussion.
The decision keeps the early‑childhood provider in the district facility; administrators said the partnership supports local preschool preparation and that Head Start’s presence imposes no additional facility cost to the district beyond continued use of the space.
